If you receive state or federally funded financial aid (example: Pell Grant, GO! Scholarship, etc.), those awards will be applied to tuition and mandatory fees first, followed by the Arkansas Academic Challenge Scholarship (lottery). IF there is a balance after those awards have been applied then the Arkadelphia Promise will pay the difference.
Students may not choose the order in which aid is applied to their bill (for example, you cannot apply the lottery scholarship and the Promise scholarship together to pay for tuition and mandatory fees and use the Pell grant to pay for room and board). Federal/state laws and universities dictate how financial aid is stacked. -
Yes.
A special provision will be made for students attending an out of state school since the Arkansas Academic Challenge (Lottery) Scholarship applies only to Arkansas schools. For students attending accredited public or private colleges or universities outside of Arkansas, the Arkadelphia Promise scholarship will pay up to the same amount it would have paid had the student attended an Arkansas institution.
For example, if the highest cost of tuition and fees at an Arkansas public university is $8,000 and the lottery scholarship contributes $5,000, the Arkadelphia Promise Scholarship will contribute up to $3,000 toward the cost of tuition and fees at an accredited public or private college or university anywhere in the United States.
Students attending out of state colleges or universities must meet the same minimum requirements as students attending in state college or university -
Yes, but any student currently in APSD as a Pre-K through freshman will have three years to relocate to the APSD area of service. If they do not relocate in the first three years they will not be eligible for the Promise. If a student is a sophomore, junior or senior in APSD as of November 16, 2010 he or she will be eligible for 100% of the Promise funds.
